Report: Spurs could look at Aston Villa once again as part of new-look transfer strategy

Tottenham Hotspur could look to raid Aston Villa once again for their head of football research Frederik Leth, following the recent appointment of Johan Lange at the North London club, according to Tipsbladet.

Spurs confirmed earlier this week that Lange would become the club’s new technical director, having performed a similar role at Aston Villa since the summer of 2020, and will take up his new employment from November 1.

Tottenham had been seeking someone to take up some of the role that Fabio Paratici had covered prior to his departure in the wake of his ban from football, with Lange’s position at Villa Park having been changed after the arrival of ex-Sevilla director of football Monchi.

Spurs could look to move for Frederik Leth

The Danish news outlet claim that Leth who carries the nickname ‘The Brain’ worked with Lange at FC Copenhagen before the pair made the switch to the Premier League.

It was emphasised that ‘nothing is certain’ since Tottenham would have to find a suitable role for Leth and also enter into talks with Villa to release him from his contract.

Spurs are said to have taken an interest in Leth’s work which is focused around player data and analytics with an emphasis on young talent.

SpursWeb Opinion

Tottenham’s recruitment since the arrival of Fabio Paratici has helped to rebuild the squad with Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr, Cristian Romero, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur all having proved to be shrewd investments.

Hopefully, Tottenham’s change of direction in the wake of the exit of the Italian can also continue the recent success in the transfer market after years of failed purchases.
