Report: Spurs could look at four England internationals after Postecoglou’s arrival

The Times have revealed that Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Manchester United’s Harry Maguire are among the players that Tottenham could target his summer ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.

We previously covered a report from The Daily Mirror on Monday, which claimed that Spurs are expected to back the Australian with funds to spend this summer after yesterday Postecoglou was appointed as Tottenham head coach on a four-year deal.

The report claims that the Lilywhites plan on battling Newcastle United for Leicester City’s James Maddison, while they could also target Brentford keeper David Raya as a successor to Hugo Lloris.

A busy summer of transfer dealings at Spurs beckons

That has now been backed up by the Times, who state that Raya is the goalkeeper the North London club have their eye on to take over the gloves from their captain.

The report suggests that Spurs do not just plan on raiding relegated Leicester City for Maddison but also want to sign his teammate Harvey Barnes.

In addition to the England pair, the Lilywhites are also said to have their eye on Harry Maguire, who they expected to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford while Ward-Prowse is also on their radar.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham do have an issue with homegrown numbers and with the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Eric Dier potentially on their way out, it could get worse this summer.

That is perhaps why the Lilywhites are being linked with so many homegrown players this summer, although some would question if Ward-Prowse and Maguire are of the required quality.
