Report: Spurs could look to sign 23-year-old defender on a free transfer

90 min have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could turn their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka, who may be available on a free transfer in the summer.

Spurs have recently received several setbacks in their search for a new left centre-back, with Piero Hincapie, who was thought to be on the North London club’s radar (BILD), putting pen to paper on a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Josko Gvardiol is expected to be out of Tottenham’s reach, with RB Leipzig said to value him at almost £100m (CalcioMercato.it) while Inter Milan are thought to have begun talks over a new contract with Alessandro Bastoni (Fabrizio Romano).

90 min state that the Lilywhites’ search for a new left centre-back could now lead them towards Ndicka, whose current contract with Frankfurt runs out in June (Transfermarkt).

The publication claims that representatives from Spurs were present at Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday for the German club’s clash against Napoli to run the rule over the centre-back, as well as his teammate, Daichi Kamada.

The report adds that Spurs could face competition from Barcelona for Ndicka’s signature, with the Catalan giants also said to be admirers of the Frenchman.

Spurs Web Opinion

There will likely be quite a few clubs vying for Ndicka’s signature in the summer, given that he is set to be available on a free transfer.

I was extremely impressed with the 23-year-old in Frankfurt’s Champions League clashes with Spurs earlier this season and he certainly seems to tick most boxes for the profile of left centre-back that Conte would want.
