Report: Spurs could look to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper in the summer

According to German publication Kicker (via BILD and Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could look to snap up Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel in the summer.

Nubel has only made a handful of appearances for Bayern since his move from Schalke in the summer of 2020.

The 25-year-old served as backup to Manuel Neuer last season and subsequently joined AS Monaco on a two-year loan last summer.

The German Under-21 international has impressed between the sticks for the Ligue 1 side but Kicker now suggest that Bayern could recall the goalkeeper at the end of the season and cash in on him.

It is explained that the Bundesliga giants are set to offer Neuer a one-year extension and Nubel has no desire to continue serving as number two at the Allianz Arena.

The report reveals that Tottenham have expressed an interest in the former Schalke shot-stopper and Bayern could decide to sell Nuber to the North London club should Neuer put pen to paper on a new deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs will almost certainly be in the market for a backup goalkeeper in the summer, with club looking unlikely to make Pierluigi Gollini’s loan deal permanent.

However, I doubt Nuber would want to come to Tottenham and play second fiddle to Lloris. The German would probably want to remain at Monaco or move to a club where he would be the guaranteed number one.
