Tottenham Hotspur were in a race to offload star midfielder, Christian Eriksen, last month in the January transfer window, or risk losing him on a free in the summer.
The Lilywhites eventually managed to agree a deal with Serie A outfit Inter Milan before the deadline, ensuring they at least demanded a fee for the Great Dane.
However, there are a number of players who are now into the final 18-months of their contracts in North London and could soon leave without the club receiving a penny (Football London).
Jan Vertonghen – The Belgian is in the final six months of his contract and is currently set to leave on a free this summer, unless a new deal can be agreed.
Michel Vorm – The Dutch keeper was only signed up for a year to provide cover when Hugo Lloris picked up a nasty long-term injury, so his contract runs out again in the summer.
Oliver Skipp – Surprisingly, one of Tottenham’s brightest academy players is set to leave the club on a free in the summer of 2021 unless they hand him a new contract.
Eric Dier – Fallen out of favour with Pochettino and perhaps now with Mourinho too, Dier’s contract also expires in 2021.
Danny Rose – Now out on loan to Newcastle, Rose is into the final 18-months of his contract in North London.
Victor Wanyama – Seemingly frozen out of the squad for the second successive manager, Wanyama could be another to leave on a free in the summer of 2021.
Gedson Fernandes – The 18-month loan period will run out in the summer of 2021, so it all depends on whether Spurs see enough from him to make the deal permanent.
