Report: Spurs could make offer for experienced German international

Tottenham have reignited their interest in Juventus midfielder Emre Can and will attempt to sign him before the transfer window shuts, according to reports.

Italian news outlet TuttoJuve report that Spurs are in the race for the former Liverpool star, who has found playing time hard to come by recently at the Italian giants.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Can had been offered to Spurs and it looks like the Lilywhites may have now finally decided to make their move.

The 26-year-old has made just eight Serie A appearances so far this campaign for Maurizio Sarri’s side (transfermarkt).

He is reportedly deemed as surplus to requirements at Juve and is said to be keen on finding an exit route from Turin.

The report also adds that Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the versatile midfielder to North London and that Spurs could make an offer of around £26 million for the midfielder.

Spurs are said to be in competition with PSG, Borussia Dortmund, and Everton for Can’s signature this month.

Spurs Web Opinion

Can is certainly the kind of player Mourinho loves as he is quite versatile and tactically disciplined. So while the link does make sense, I am not sure we need another defensive-minded midfielder in the squad. We are fairly well stocked in central midfielder especially with the arrival of Gedson Fernandes. Ideally, Spurs need to prioritise singing a No.9 and a wing forward before the end of the month.
