Report: Spurs could make a move for 23-year-old Premier League star

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to make a move to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer, after being impressed by his displays this season.

Gibbs-White only joined newly-promoted Forest last summer in a deal worth a reported £42.5 million including add-ons (Sky Sports).

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a productive first season at the City Ground, with four goals and six assists in 36 games across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

There is a chance Forest could be heading straight back to the Championship, however.

They are currently 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above Leicester in 18th who have a game in hand on their rivals.

How relegation would impact the slew of players Forest brought in this season remains to be seen. But, Gibbs-White would appear to be one player who could have the opportunity to stay in the Premier League if Forest do go down.

According to Football Insider sources, Spurs are keen on the Forest midfielder and are of the opinion that he can become an even better player in time.

Apparently, Tottenham have been watching Gibbs-White all season and like what they’ve seen. Their interest in the player is thought to be “growing” as the summer transfer window approaches.

Sources claim Spurs have been impressed by a player they view as “hugely improved” and who has “gone to the next level” since moving to Forest last year.

On top of that, it is believed that Gibbs-White is regarded as fitting the profile of player Spurs want to bring in. They are big fans of his “flair, invention and great work ethic.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I was sceptical when I saw the price tag for Gibbs-White last summer, but he has done a decent job and if Forest do go down it will be through no lack of trying on his part.

He’s not a player I would be desperate for us to sign, but I wouldn’t mind seeing us bring him in, for the right price.
