Report: Spurs could make a ‘surprise bid’ for PL playmaker this summer

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to compound a frustrating transfer window for Crystal Palace, by swooping for star player Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham go into this new Premier League campaign with a massive hole to fill in their squad, after the departure of Harry Kane earlier this month. The England captain joined Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £100m (Sky Sports).

The North London club will be looking to the likes of Heung-min Son, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison to provide goals and creativity in Kane’s absence.

Despite an array of attacking talent at their disposal, Spurs are thought to be in the market for a new striker, too. The Lilywhites appear to be pursuing Gift Orban, and are reportedly ready to make a move for the prolific Gent attacker very soon (CaughtOffside).

Spurs could try to sign Eberechi Eze from Palace

Another option to bolster the forward line at Spurs could be Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze. That’s according to a report from the Express, which claims the Eagles could be set to lose two of their key players before the transfer window closes.

While Chelsea appear to be closing in on the signing of Michael Olise, a “frustrating transfer window” could get even worse for Palace if Tottenham move for Eze, too.

It is said that Palace are “fearful of losing” Eze, with Spurs thought to be “firm admirers” of the talented attacker. Apparently, a “surprise bid” from Tottenham cannot be ruled out this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Eze would be a superb signing for Spurs and would fit perfectly into our new system. He’s a top-quality player who has shown what he is capable of at this level already, and is certainly someone who is ready to step up to a bigger club. Whether Spurs will actually move for him, I’m not so sure, but it would be a shrewd signing if so.
