Report: Spurs could make January move for £43m-rated Real Madrid man

According to a report from TodoFichajes, Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Real Madrid winger, Marco Asensio, during the January transfer window.

Asensio broke into the Real Madrid starting eleven as a 20-year-old in 2016 and looked set to reach major heights at the Santiago Bernebeu.

However, the 25-year-old’s development has slowed down over the last couple of years, partly due to a lack of consistent starts for the La Liga giants.

TodoFichajes now claim that Asensio had offers to leave Madrid in the summer but he stayed as he thought he would play an important role under Carlo Ancelotti.

However, with the 25-year-old finding minutes hard to come by in the Spanish capital so far this season, it is asserted that he will seek an exit if things ‘do not change soon’.

The report claims that Asensio is the subject of interest from Spurs, as well as, AC Milan and AS Roma.

It is asserted that while the player’s market value is around €35m (£30.1m), Los Blancos could demand €50m (£43m) for the winger in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Asensio is a talented player, there are a couple of reasons why I am not convinced by this rumoured transfer. Firstly, I believe we are more desperate for a central midfielder and a forward than we are for another winger. Secondly, I do not think the Spaniard is worth anywhere near £40m+ plus that Real Madrid allegedly want for him.
