Report: Spurs could make January move for defender who is facing exile

Football London have revealed that Trevoh Chalobah might not play a single minute for Chelsea until January, with Tottenham potentially set to offer the centre-back an exit route out of Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens.

Tottenham are now alarmingly short of options at centre-back following the departure of Davinson Sanchez to Galatasaray last week.

Eric Dier is the only senior centre-back that Ange Postecoglou can call upon if there is an injury to either Cristian Romero or Micky Van de Ven, which is why it has been widely reported that Spurs are planning on bolstering the area in January (Football Insider).

Trevoh Chalobah could be an option for Spurs

If Football.London’s latest update is to be believed, Postecoglou’s men could turn their attention to Chalobah, who now faces an extended spell on the bench at Chelsea.

It is explained that a late move to Bayern Munich fell through for the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day, while he also rejected a switch to Nottingham Forest.

The outlet asserts that Mauricio Pochettino is not planning on considering the versatile defender for selection anytime soon.

The report adds that Spurs, who are Chalobah’s long-time admirers, could explore a move for the Blues academy graduate when the window reopens.

Chalobah certainly possesses the attributes necessary to play in Postecoglou’s system and the Australian might fancy his chances of getting the best out of the Chelsea man. So, I would not be surprised if Tottenham are considering an approach for the 24-year-old.
