Report: Spurs could make January offer for player they have ‘liked’ for ages

TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that Weston McKennie is one the leading candidates to leave Juventus in January amidst Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder.

Reports from Italy over recent weeks have backed Spurs to make a move for McKennie when the transfer window opens in January (Calciomercato).

Il Bianconero suggested last month that Juventus may be open to selling the USA international as they need to raise funds to make a move for Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo De Paul in January.

This has now been backed up by TMW, who state that Massimiliano Allegri has been impressed with Juve’s academy midfielders, Fabio Miretti and Nicolo Fagioli, and is ready to give more regular game time to the pair.

The report adds that the Old Lady could decide to hand Adrien Rabiot a new contract and cash in on McKennie.

It is explained that the American’s situation needs to be ‘monitored’ as Tottenham have ‘liked’ him for a long time. TMW state that Fabio Paratici was instrumental in bringing McKennie to Juventus and could launch an offer for the midfielder in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

The speculation linking McKennie with a move to Tottenham makes sense on many levels. I believe Conte will want an attacking midfielder of the Juve star’s profile to give him the flexibility to use a 3-5-2.

The USA international is clearly admired by Fabio Paratici and is likely to be relatively cheap in January, given that he is not part of Allegri’s plans.
