Report: Spurs could make move for 28-year-old Serie A star in the summer

CalcioMercatoWeb.it have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a potential move for Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

Spurs snapped up Ivan Perisic on a free transfer after his contract with Inter ran out last summer and the North London club have since been credited with an interest in several Nerazzurri stars, including Milan Skriniar (TEAMTalk), Stefan de Vrij (Football Insider), Denzel Dumfries (FC Inter News) and Alessandro Bastoni (InterLive.it).

Now another name has been put forward as a potential target for Conte’s men in the form of Calhanoglu. The Turkish international has been in fine form this season, having scored three goals and provided six assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

CMW.it claim that Tottenham could push ahead with a move for the central midfielder in order to convince Conte to commit his future to the club.

The publication adds that Inter have already started talks with Calhanoglu over renewing his current deal, which runs out in 2024, but interest from Spurs could derail the Serie A club’s efforts.

Spurs Web Opinion

Calhanoglu would be a good fit for Conte’s current 3-4-3 formation as the 28-year-old is good in all phases of play and has an excellent engine.

Bissouma has not proven to be a particularly good fit for the system while it does not seem like Conte is fully convinced by Skipp. So, I would expect the club to be in the market for a central midfielder in the summer.
