Report: Spurs could make offer for experienced striker ‘in the last few hours’ of window

According to a report by ASRomaLive, Tottenham Hotspur could make a late offer to sign Roma striker Edin Dzeko before the transfer window shuts tonight.

Jose Mourinho admitted a couple of weeks ago that Spurs do not need a striker at least until the end of the season, with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Carlos Vinicius at their disposal.

However, Kane injured both of his ankles in the first half of the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Thursday and the Spurs boss has seemed reluctant to start Vinicius in the Premier League, with the Brazilian being an unused substitute against the Reds and only coming on in the second half of the 1-0 loss to Brighton.

Gazzetta Dello Sport (via One Football) claimed last week that Roma did offer Dzeko to Spurs but the North London club rejected the opportunity to sign the Bosnian.

ASRomaLive now report that Dzeko will not be joining Juventus before tonight’s deadline but Roma are keen to move him on after the striker fell out with boss Paulo Fonseca.

The report reveals West Ham United are the only club to make an offer for the former Manchester City man but that Tottenham could make a bid ‘in the last few hours’ depending on the seriousness of the injury to Kane.

Now that Mourinho has cleared up that Kane’s ankle injury is not as serious as initially thought and that the striker could be back in a couple of weeks, I do not see any reason the club will want to sign another striker.
