Report: Spurs could miss out on right-back to Crystal Palace

Tottenham have reportedly earmarked Nathan Ferguson as a transfer target for this summer, however, the youngster could be set to join Crystal Palace according to the Express & Star.

Ferguson is expected to leave West Brom with a move to Premier League outfit Crystal Palace said to be his likely destination.

The defender’s contract runs out this summer and it does not appear he will be extending his stay at The Hawthorns.

Ferguson can play at both right and left-back, so has naturally caught the attention of Spurs who are looking to strengthen their defence this summer (Football Insider).

The 19-year-old has racked up 21 appearances in the Championship for the Baggies this season as they push for promotion (Transfermarkt).

This news will come as a blow for Spurs who have reportedly missed out of right-back, Thomas Meunier and looks set to complete a move to join Borussia Dortmund (RTBF).

Any club who are looking to take Ferguson on a free transfer would likely have to pay compensation of around £4million.

As a free transfer, this could have been a great long-term addition to the side. Ferguson has featured regularly for the Baggies and has demonstrated how flexible he is in terms of being able to play at either side of the defence.
