Report: Spurs could move for German international in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs in Europe vying to sign Robin Koch, according to a report by Area Napoli.

The defender is having an impressive season at Freiburg and his performances are said to have caught the attention of clubs in Germany, England and Italy.

Portuguese news outlet Record (as relayed by Sport Witness) reported back in January that Spurs were following the German defender’s progress closely.

Area Napoli now claim that Spurs are set to push Napoli in their attempts to bring the 23-year-old to the Serie A.

The report reveals that the defender is available for a fee of around €20 million in the summer.

The versatile Koch, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, is also said to be attracting interest from RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.

The young defender is said to prefer staying in the Bundesliga for the moment over a move to England or Italy.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t think we will go for Koch as I believe Jose will want to sign an experienced centre half in the summer. With Tanganga’s emergence and Dier being shifted back into the centre back, he will want to replace Vertonghen with someone who can come into the backline immediately and help sort out our defensive issues. While Koch is certainly one for the future, he is unlikely to walk straight into our team and improve us.
