Report: Spurs could move for Serie A star if they lose Harry Kane

Sky Italia have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could make an approach for Lautaro Martinez if they lose Harry Kane this transfer window.

With Kane now making his intention to leave Tottenham clear by not showing up at Hotspur Way for training, Manchester City are said to be confident of securing the England captain’s signature (Athletic).

Sky Italy now suggest that if the North Londoners do lose their talisman, they could look to replace him with Martinez.

The Argentine has been prolific since moving to the San Siro three years ago and is considered one of the best marksmen in European football.

The report explains the 23-year-old has just two years left on his deal and that Inter’s efforts to extend his contract have so far been unsuccessful.

However, it is explained that the Nerazzuri still have no intention of selling the striker and are hopeful of agreeing on a new deal with him over the coming weeks.

The report adds that Inter have already turned down Atletico Madrid’s proposal for Martinez this summer.

While Arsenal are also said to have made an approach for the striker, the Gunners allegedly failed to make a concrete offer.

It is asserted that Inter are expecting more approaches for Martinez before the transfer window closes, including potentially one from Spurs.

While it will be impossible to replace Kane directly, we should be going after a player of Martinez’s calibre if we do lose the England captain.

However, any deal for Kane will likely be completed late in the window which might not give Spurs sufficient time to find suitable replacements.
