Report: Spurs could now ‘reassess’ move for previous manager target

According to a report from ESPN, Tottenham could now make another move for Erik Ten Hag after calling off their pursuit of Gennaro Gattuso.

Just when it seemed as though we had witnessed every twist and turn possible in Tottenham’s managerial pursuit, the North London club delivered another massive blow on Thursday as they pulled out of talks with Paulo Fonseca.

Spurs reportedly decided to call off talks with the Portuguese and make a surprise move for Gattuso, who became available after parting ways with Fiorentina just 22 days after taking the job.

However, Tottenham have now called off their pursuit of Gattuso and ESPN claim that the club made the decision due to the fan backlash regarding the former Napoli boss’ potential arrival.

The report suggests that Spurs are back to square one in their managerial pursuit and could reassess possible candidates including Ten Hag, despite the fact that the Dutchman has signed a contract extension with Ajax.

Ten Hag was rumoured to be one of the options on Tottenham’s radar ahead of Fabio Paratici’s arrival and it looks like the club could once again turn to the 51-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be very happy with Erik ten Hag at this point. An attacking coach who plays attractive football and promotes youngsters from the academy. Sign me up. Just end this awful manager search!
