Report: Spurs could offer Emerson Royal as makeweight in deal for 25-year-old

CalcioMercatoWeb.it have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori and could offer Emerson Royal to the Serie A club as a makeweight in a deal for the England international.

Reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Spurs are expected to sign two centre-backs in the summer – one for the left side of the defence and another player who can play on through the middle as well as on the right (Alasdair Gold – Football.London).

If CMW.it are to be believed, Tomori is one of the names on the North London club’s radar. The Chelsea academy graduate has come on leaps and bounds since making the switch to Milan in 2020 and has been capped by England on three occasions.

The publication states that Tottenham might be prepared to offer Tomori a route back to England, irrespective of whether Antonio Conte stays at the club or not.

CMW.it also contend that the Lilywhites would be open to sending Emerson the other way, the prospect of which could ‘tease’ Milan.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tomori has looked extremely commanding and solid since moving to the Serie A but there is no guarantee that he will transfer that to the Premier League.

Kalidou Koulibaly’s tough start to life in England is evidence of how much more demanding it is for central defenders in the Premier League.

I would personally prefer Marc Guehi over Tomori as I believe that the Crystal Palace star has a higher ceiling.
