Report: Spurs could offer midfielder to Roma in part-exchange for Zaniolo

CalcioMercatoWeb have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could offer Giovani Lo Celso to AS Roma as a makeweight in a deal to sign Nicolo Zaniolo.

It was reported by CalcioMercato.it last week that Spurs’ opening bid of £25m plus Joe Rodon for Zaniolo was turned down by Roma.

Meanwhile, Giovani Lo Celso is thought to be surplus to requirements for Antonio Conte at Tottenham and has been mooted as a target for Serie A clubs including Napoli (Area Napoli) and Fiorentina (The Times).

CalcioMercatoWeb have now revealed that the Lilywhites could offer the Argentine to Roma in order to beat Juventus to Zaniolo’s signature.

The report explains that the Giallorossi do not need to sell the winger despite the arrival of Paulo Dybala and continue to value him at €50m (£42.3m).

However, it is asserted that Fabio Paratici could now put Lo Celso on the table, with the 26-year-old’s profile said to be ‘appreciated’ by Jose Mourinho’s side.

Spurs are thought to value the former Real Betis midfielder at €20m (£16.9m) and it is said that his inclusion in the deal would ‘significantly lower’ the North London club’s financial outlay on Zaniolo.

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Jose Mourinho was a big fan of Lo Celso during his time at Spurs. So, I can see the former Spurs boss being tempted by this rumoured swap proposal.

Lo Celso’s versatility means that he can fill in at central midfield or play as part of the forward line, thus covering two areas that Roma need to address this summer.
