Report: Spurs could offer new deal to midfielder who Mourinho ‘adores’

Erik Lamela could be in line to be handed a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur, according to Football.London.

The report claims that Jose Mourinho adores the Argentine, who is set to be out of contract in North London in the summer of 2022 (transfermarkt).

Lamela is in his eighth season at Tottenham having joined the club from Roma in a deal worth £25.7million (BBC) ahead of Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid.

The midfielder still has admirers in Italy after Bologna chief Walter Sabatini, the man who took Lamela to Roma admitting that the Serie A outfit holds an interest in the player and were waiting to see if there is a chance they could sign him (The Sun).

Lamela has struggled with injury problems during his time at Tottenham which have gone some way to curtail the high expectations which were on his shoulders when he arrived as a highly-rated 21-year-old.
