Report: Spurs could re-sign player who has only recently left the club

Some people would argue that Fernando Llorente deserves another season in North London after his heroics last campaign.

It looked to be a disaster when Harry Kane picked up back-to-back ankle ligament injuries, with pivotal Champions League ties on the horizon.

However, Llorente came into the fold and brought an abundance of goals with him, scoring against Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16, Man City in the quarter-finals, and setting up Lucas Moura’s 96th-minute winner in the semis.

Llorente just offers Pochettino something a little different, perhaps when the good-looking football isn’t quite working, the Spaniard is always there to muscle a header out of nowhere.

Sky Sports reported this week that the former World Cup winner is of interest to Italian side Fiorentina and Llorente is open to a return to the country.

However, they also claim that a one-year deal at Tottenham is still an option for the centre-forward, who is taking time to evaluate every potential avenue.

The Telegraph previously claimed that this one-year deal would be on reduced terms from Llorente’s original £100,00 per week contract.

This comes after Llorente was released on a free at the end of last month. A lack of an announcement from Spurs with regards to his departure would also seem to hint at a possible return still being on the cards.
