Report: Spurs could receive Antonio Conte boost for Man City match

There is some hope that Antonio Conte could be present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the upcoming game against Manchester City, despite undergoing surgery for gallbladder issues yesterday, according to a report from the Evening Standard

The club announced yesterday that Conte had been suffering with severe abdominal pain and had received a diagnosis of cholecystitis. The 53-year-old underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder yesterday, over in Italy.

Conte took to Instagram yesterday evening to provide an update on his situation and to thank fans for their support.

He said: “Thank you for your lovely messages, my surgery has gone well and I’m already feeling better. Now’s time to recover, I can’t wait to get back on the field with the team.”

Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport suggested Conte will be out of action until later in the month, with a return possibly coming in time for the Premier League game against Leicester City on February 11, or more likely the Champions League clash away to AC Milan on February 14.

Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini will take on press conference duties tomorrow, and is almost certain to be running things from the touchline at the weekend, but it sounds like Conte could have a chance of being at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Sunday’s big game against Manchester City.

It is thought there ‘remains a chance Conte could travel back to London in time to watch the game from elsewhere in the stadium.’ Either way, it’s believed Conte will have a line of communication with Stellini on the Spurs bench, be it from the director’s box or from Italy.

You have to feel for Conte, he just can’t seem to catch a break this season at all. We wish him the speediest of recoveries, and can’t wait to see him on the touchline again. Until then, we are in very capable hands with Stellini.
