Report: Spurs could reignite interest after Frenchman’s price drops

According to GFFN, Tottenham Hotspur are set to reignite their interest in Lille star Jean-Clair Todibo after failing to secure the centre-back’s signature in January.

The report says there will be a few exits from Lille during this summer’s transfer window, with Todibo being one of the big names expected to leave.

It is pointed out that Spurs showed ‘considerable interest’ in the central defender in January but the Ligue 1 club had no intention of losing the player at the time.

Lille allegedly put a €60m (£51.1m) price tag on the 24-year-old, which deterred Tottenham, who decided to end their pursuit of the Frenchman and secure Radu Dragusin from Genoa instead.

Jean-Clair Todibo is now on the market

GFFN now claim that this summer is seen as the right time for Todibo to depart the Allianz Riviera, with the player appearing ‘resigned to a departure’ and with Lille wanting to cash in on him.

It is explained that Paulo Fonseca’s men would be ready to accept just €40m (£34m) for the centre-back this summer, with Tottenham thus set to reignite their interest in the player.

However, the publication adds that Ange Postecoglou’s men will face plenty of competition for Todibo, with Man Utd, Juventus and AC Milan also eyeing moves for the France international.

I suspect Tottenham’s interest in Todibo ended the moment they secured Dragusin from Genoa. Spurs are now only looking for a backup in central defence and I doubt they would want to spend around £35m-£40m on a fourth-choice centre-back.
