Report: Spurs could reignite interest in forward Paratici is ‘a big fan’ of

Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed (18/10/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) that Tottenham could reignite their interest in Fiorentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was mooted as a target for Spurs in the summer of 2021, with Sky Italia reporting at the time that the North London club were willing to meet Stuttgart’s asking price of €25m (£21.5m) upfront with a further €4m (£3.5m) in bonuses.

However, it was Fiorentina who won the race for the Argentine, who has impressed since his switch to the Serie A last year. The 25-year-old has made a bright start to the 2022-23 season, having found the back of the net five times so far (Transfermarkt).

Gazzetta now suggest that Gonzalez’s impressive form could have caught Tottenham’s attention, with Fabio Partici thought to ‘remain a big fan’ of the forward.

The report adds that the former Stuttgart man’s stock could rise further if he performs well at the World Cup in Qatar.

It is explained that while Fiorentina will not consider selling Gonzalez in January, they could receive tempting offers for the player next summer.

Gonzalez would be a good fit for Conte’s system as he can play across the front three. If Tottenham do hold a genuine interest in the 25-year-old, perhaps the club will be hoping that Cristian Romero has a word with the forward and can convince him to make a move to North London.
