Report: Spurs could return for this attacking midfielder in January after summer bid

A Bola have reported that Spurs may return for Sporting Lisbon’s attacking midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, in the January transfer window.

The report claims that Tottenham’s interest in the player is still alive, with a potential Eriksen January exit also being tipped as an added reason for the deal.

Eriksen has well under a year remaining on his current contract, meaning that he could leave on a free in the summer. This means that January may be Levy’s final chance to get some money for the Great Dane.

The Sun reported in the summer that Sporting wanted £60m for Fernandes, a fee that Tottenham were clearly not prepared to match.

In fact, Fernandes revealed after the window that Tottenham had made multiple proposals for his signature, but Sporting were not happy with the value proposed by Levy and co (GQ Portugal).

With Spurs needing some midfield creativity and Eriksen potentially on the way out, could we see Fernandes join in the new year?

Spurs Web Opinion:

Eriksen out and Fernandes in would be a fantastic piece of business for Tottenham. I would almost put Fernandes above Dybala for me in terms of targets, purely because I feel that he really wants to join the North London club.
