Report: Spurs could rival Arsenal in race to sign international midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur coud be set to battle North London rivals Arsenal for Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu.

The Daily Mail claim that Spurs’ recruitment staff have identified the 20-year-old as a potential summer arrival to help improve the squad ahead of next season.

Arsenal are said to be long-term admirers of the Turkish international, having tried to sign him last year.

Tottenham are reported to have made contact with Kokcu’s representatives and continue to be updated on his future with the Eredivisie outfit.

Considered as one of the brightest young talents in European football, Kokcu has caught the eye following his return to fitness in January after being sidelined for two months.

He was selected in the Eredivisie team of the month for both February and March and scooped the award for the Dutch top-flight’s young player of the month last month.

The Metro claim that the midfielder could be available for around £20million and has previously been linked with Leicester City and Leeds United.
