Report: Spurs could scrap budget transfer plans if Premier League striker wants to join

According to Football Insider, Spurs would be willing to scrap their initial transfer plans if they receive encouragement that Raul Jimenez is ready to leave Wolves this summer.

This follows speculation that Jimenez may be willing to leave the Midlands club this year and is keen for one last big career move.

In a report by Evening Standard in May, it was stated that Spurs’ transfer plans had been reduced to free agents and swap deals due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.

However, Football Insider claim that Spurs are set to concentrate on free transfers, loans, and cheap deals over the summer unless Jimenez became available, which could persuade the club to break their cautious plans.

Despite his impressive performances at Wolves, the striker would not cost much more than £30 million due to his age, according to the report.

The 29-year-old moved permanently to Wolves from Benefica last summer after a successful loan spell in the 2018/19 campaign. Jimenez has been influential for Wolves this season after netting 22 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances (Transfermarkt).

Every transfer window, Spurs have been crying out for a back-up to Harry Kane. His injury and fitness concerns over the past two seasons must be reasons enough for Spurs to finally sign a striker this summer. Jimenez is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and would be the perfect partner to Harry Kane. If Jimenez is available for £30 million, then surely it’s a no brainer.
