Report: Spurs could sign Atalanta star on loan deal – May have to sell Joe Hart

According to Sky Sport Italia (as updated on July 18, 15:50), Tottenham Hotspur could complete a loan deal for Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.

Gollini had a brief spell on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship back in 2016 before going on to establish himself as Atalanta’s number one.

The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer between the sticks for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side over the last few years and his performances have reportedly attracted Tottenham’s attention.

Some sources from Italy previously suggested that Atalanta could cash in on Gollini as he is now surplus to requirements after the Serie A club completed the signing of Juan Musso, with Wolves and Aston Villa also being credited with an interest in the goalkeeper.

Calcio Atalanta even claimed recently that Spurs had already agreed on personal terms with Gollini ahead of a potential transfer.

Sky Italia have now suggested that the North London club are locked in talks with Atalanta for the Italian shot-stopper and hope to secure a deal for him.

The report reveals that Spurs could first sell Joe Hart before completing a deal for Gollini.

It is asserted that the Atalanta star could join Tottenham on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Spurs Web Opinion

Out of all the goalkeepers we have been linked with, Gollini seems to fit the bill perfectly for what we need. He would not be as expensive as the likes of Nick Pope and is likely to be content temporarily serving as Lloris’ understudy before getting opportunities to vie for the number one shirt when the Frenchman eventually departs.
