Report: Spurs could submit £30m offer for PL midfielder – Not Conor Gallagher

Brazilian outlet Gavea News have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could be about to bid £30m for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes.

Gomes, who moved to the Molineux Stadium from Flamengo a year ago, has established himself as a fixture in Wolves’ midfield this season and has turned quite a few heads with his performances.

Tottenham are thought to be keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old, with Fla Web (as translated by Sport Witness) reporting last week that Ange Postecoglou’s men are ready to ‘make an investment very soon’ in the youngster.

Spurs set to make opening offer for Joao Gomes

Tottenham’s interest in Gomes has now also been backed up Gavea News, who say that the Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their midfield and have set their sights on the Wolves star.

The outlet says that while the young Brazilian is also attracting interest from other English sides, it is Spurs who are showing the most concrete interest.

In fact, it is alleged that the North London club are preparing an offer thought to be worth around £30m to take the midfielder to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The publication adds that Flamengo would stand to earn 10 per cent of any fee Spurs pay for Gomes since they have a sell-on clause for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

No English journalists or publications have run this story of Tottenham’s alleged interest in Gomes. It seems like it is the player’s entourage who have fed the story to the Brazilian press, perhaps in an effort to get Wolves to offer the 22-year-old an improved contract.
