Report: Spurs could turn attention to 41-year-old in manager pursuit

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur could turn their attentions to Rangers boss Steven Gerrard in their search for a new head coach.

Tottenham’s managerial saga has dragged on and on for the last two months and we still appear to be no closer to finding out who is going to replace Jose Mourinho.

The club reportedly decided to call off talks with Gennaro Gattuso after backlash from fans on social media, putting them back to square one in their search.

GiveMeSport have now claimed that Tottenham could make an approach for Gerrard. The Liverpool legend was linked with the Spurs job back in March but GMS explain that the 41-year-old was not on the North London club’s radar back then.

The report states that Rangers now have concerns that Tottenham could make an approach for Gerrard after calling off talks with Paulo Fonseca and Gattuso.

However, the report adds that the English coach, who just ended Rangers’ decade-long wait for a league title, is unlikely to be a leading candidate for the Spurs job as things stand.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Gerrard could go on to become a good manager one day, it would be an extremely risky appointment to make now given that he has only had one job so far. If we are going to go for a young, English coach, you would think that someone like Potter would be a much more desirable candidate than the Rangers boss.
