Report: Spurs could turn attention to prolific 28-year-old if Kane leaves

According to a report from L’Equipe (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi if Harry Kane leaves this summer.

With Spurs set to miss out on Champions League qualification for a second straight season, reports indicate that Kane will ask Daniel Levy to listen to offers for him this summer.

However, some sources have suggested that holding on to Kane is one of Spurs’ priorities heading into this summer’s transfer window.

L’Equipe now claim that if Tottenham are unable to stop the England captain from leaving, they could turn their attentions to Icardi.

The report asserts that the Argentina international has informed PSG of his intention to leave this summer after a difficult 16 months at the club.

It is said that the Ligue 1 giants are open to selling the former Inter Milan man as he would free up their wage bill.

The Parisians reportedly value the striker at €35-€40m (£30.1-£34.4m) and it is asserted that Icardi’s representatives are ‘sounding out the market’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect any club to meet Levy’s valuation of Kane this summer. However, if we were to lose the 27-year-old, the only way we can replace him is by bringing in two top-quality centre-forwards. We could certainly do worse than singing Icardi and Ings.
