Report: Spurs could use Paratici connections to beat Arsenal to star striker

Football.London have reported that Tottenham Hotspur remain in the race for Dusan Vlahovic amidst Arsenal’s advances to sign the Fiorentina star.

Over the last few days, Arsenal have emerged as the front-runners to snap up Vlahovic. The Athletic’s David Ornstein has claimed that the Gunners are in the ‘strongest position’ to strike a deal with Fiorentina for the centre-forward in January.

According to The Daily Mail, interested clubs will have to shell out a total of £150m in transfer fee, wages and agent fees to snap up the 21-year-old this month but Arsenal are allegedly not put off by the fee.

Football.London have now backed up that claim, explaining that Vlahovic is Mikel Arteta’s top transfer target this month.

The report states that Arsenal technical director Edu is doing ‘everything possible’ to thrash out a deal with Fiorentina for the striker.

However, it is explained that Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici has a close relationship with Vlahovic’s representatives and that the Lilywhites could use that connection to thrash out a summer deal for the Viola star.

Arsenal will likely be more open to spending big money to thrash out a deal for Vlahovic since they are on the lookout for a replacement for Aubameyang.

On the other hand, Vlahovic would not be assured of being the main man at Spurs, with Harry Kane looking set to stay. So, I suspect the Gunners have the edge in the race for the 21-year-old.
