Report: Spurs defender attracting interest from home and abroad for loan exit

Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is reportedly generating considerable interest in the final few days of the transfer window with the club looking to loan him out for the second half of the season.

Carter-Vickers spent the first half of the campaign at Stoke City but has been recalled by Spurs after falling out of favour with new Stoke boss Michael O’Neill.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, a whole host of English and foreign clubs are keen on signing the 22-year-old.

However, it is suggested that the centre half wants to stay in England and has tasked his agent with securing a move to another Championship club for the remainder of the season.

The report reveals that Fulham, Derby, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough have all contacted Spurs over the availability of the USA international.

It is reported that an option to buy could be included in the loan deal with the player finding himself behind the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Juan Foyth in the North London pecking order.

It is a shame that the early promise Carter-Vickers showed at Spurs has somewhat petered out over the last year and a half. At one point, it looked as if was dead certain to play his way into the first team under Pochettino. Unfortunately, the youngster has shown little recently that suggests he can make it North London. The time has now to move him on permanently.
