Report: Argentine expected to push for a move in the summer

Juan Foyth is expected to push for a move away from Tottenham in the summer, according to reports.

There were some big expectations on Foyth coming into this season after impressing for the club towards the second half of last campaign and making the right-back spot for Argentina his own in the Copa America last summer.

However, the 22-year-old picked up an injury in the pre-season match at Bayern Munich that put him out of action for the first few months.

Things haven’t gone according to plan for the youngster since his return to fitness as he has barely had any game time after Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Spurs in November.

He was even linked with moves to Italian duo AC Milan (The Times) and Sampdoria (Il Secolo XIX) late in the January transfer window only for a deal to fail to materialise.

Although Foyth ended up staying, a report in The Independent alleges that the defender will push for a permanent transfer away from the club when the transfer window reopens in the summer as he is keen on playing regular first-team football.

With Jose unlikely to play Foyth anyway, we might as well have loaned him out for the remainder of the season. I was expecting Foyth to challenge Aurier for the right-back role at the start of the campaign but with Japhet Tanganga’s emergence, it looks like the Argentine’s time at Spurs is coming to an end.
