Report: Spurs defender in ‘no hurry’ to seal move away but clubs are ‘lurking’

According to El Larguero, Sergio Reguilon is in ‘no hurry’ to seal a move away from Tottenham despite attracting interest from Barcelona.

Reguilon appears to be surplus to requirements at Tottenham after the North London club snapped up Ivan Perisic this summer, with the Croat expected to battle Ryan Sessegnon for the left wing-back role this season.

A return to Seville has been mooted as a possibility for the Spaniard (Football Insider), who previously spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

Mundo Deportivo reported last month that Barcelona are eyeing Reguilon as an alternative to Chelsea star Marcos Alonso this summer.

Journalist Gerard Romero (via Fichajes) subsequently suggested the Catalan club were even considering offering Memphis Depay to Spurs in a straight swap deal for the left-back.

AS have now revealed that Reguilon remains Barca’s plan B and the interest in the Tottenham man from Xavi Hernandez’s men is ‘very strong’.

However, the report adds that Inter Milan and Sevilla are lurking in the background and are ready to pounce on the 26-year-old.

It is explained that, as things stand, Reguilon is not in a hurry to make a decision regarding his next destination.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if Reguilon is leaning toward a move to Sevilla as the 25-year-old would want to play regularly to give himself the best chance of making Spain’s squad for the World Cup.

He would stand a much better chance of regular game time under a manager he knows in Julen Lopetegui than he would at Barcelona.
