Report: Spurs defender nears exit as talks have ‘accelerated’

According to a report in Soccer Link, Tottenham Hotspur are currently negotiating the sale of defender Serge Aurier to Italian giants AC Milan.

The report claims that the discussions between both clubs have accelerated as they look to hammer out a deal before the September 2nd transfer deadline.

Aurier is said to be keen on switching to Milan after spending two seasons in North London. It is suggested that Tottenham are asking for € 25 million for the defender’s services.

The Ivorian showed glimpses of quality when he first arrived at the club from PSG but he has not been able to iron the rough edges out of his game. To make matters worse, he has been riddled with injuries during his time at the club and hasn’t been able to get a consistent run of games.

With Spurs already having sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid, if Aurier leaves they will only be left with two young options at right-back in the form of Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth.

This deal looks like a certainty before the deadline as Pochettino seems to have made his mind up about Aurier. However, with Foyth out injured and Walker-Peters suffering an injury against Newcastle, Tottenham might have to start with a makeshift right back against Arsenal in case Aurier is sold.
