Report: Spurs defender out for around three weeks with bone fracture

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is set to miss around the next three weeks after picking up an injury at Sporting, according to Football London.

The central defender sustained a hairline fracture of the bone below his knee early on in the 2-0 defeat to the Portuguese outfit in midweek.

Despite picking up the injury, Davies played the full 90 minutes of the Champions League clash, having come back into Antonio Conte’s starting eleven in place of Clement Lenglet.

The 29-year-old is expected to be withdrawn from the Welsh squad for their UEFA Nations League double header against Belgium and Poland, however, it is yet to be announced.

Davies now faces an anxious wait on whether he will be in contention for selection for the north London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates on October 1st, which is Spurs’ first fixture back after the international break.

Davies has been in good form under Antonio Conte, however, his absence now gives Clement Lenglet the opportunity to impress today against Leicester and stake his claim for selection when we make the trip to the Gunners.
