Report: Spurs defender undergoing medical today – Six-figure fee agreed

Dennis Cirkin is currently undergoing a medical ahead of sealing a potential transfer to Sunderland, Football Insider have revealed.

Cirkin has impressed for Tottenham’s Under-18s and the Under-23s over the past few years, while he has also represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 levels.

Although the left-back is yet to make his senior bow for Tottenham, he was thought to be rated very highly by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff.

News first emerged earlier this week that Tottenham were in advanced talks with Sunderland over a permanent transfer of the 19-year-old.

Football Insider have now shed more light on the matter by revealing that Spurs rate Cirkin highly and do not wish to let him go.

However, the teenager allegedly rejected a contract offered by the North London club as he seeks to play regular first-team football at Sunderland.

It is asserted that Spurs have agreed on a six-figure fee with the Black Cats for the transfer of Cirkin, who will seal his move to the Stadium of Light after completing his medical this weekend.

It seems like Cirkin, just as the likes of Luis Binks and Noni Madueke before him, felt that it would be better for his development to take a step down and play every week rather than waiting for his opportunity at Spurs, which could have taken another two years.
