Report: Spurs ‘determined’ to sign 22-year-old full-back in the summer

Fichajes have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of four European heavyweights quite keen on securing the services of Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez in the summer.

Gutierrez has excelled since swapping Real Madrid for Girona 18 months ago, with the youngster now developing a reputation as one of the best full-backs in La Liga.

Tottenham’s interest in the player first came to light at the start of last month when Relevo reported that the Lilywhites were eyeing a move for the 22-year-old.

However, the outlet pointed out that Real Madrid would have an advantage over others in the race for the defender as they have a 50 per cent sell-on clause on the player.

Tottenham really want Miguel Gutierrez

Fichajes have now indicated that the race for Gutierrez’s signature is now heating up ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report says that Spurs and Real Madrid have been joined in the race for the Spaniard by Arsenal and Manchester United, with all four clubs thought to be ‘determined’ to win the race for the full-back.

The publication adds that the Red Devils are particularly keen on Gutierrez, who has become a ‘priority target’ for the club, with Erik Ten Hag’s side willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to land the Girona star.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Tottenham are more likely to sign a backup right-back to cover for Pedro Porro next summer rather than a backup left-back, with Postecoglou likely to keep Ben Davies at the club.

Ideally, the Aussie coach might prefer to sign a player who can play in either full-back position, which is why someone like Kyle Walker-Peters might be quite attractive for Spurs.
