Report: Spurs ‘edge closer’ to new manager – Harry Kane involved in talks

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham are now making progress towards hiring a new manager and that the North London club are keen to make an appointment that will persuade Harry Kane to remain at the club.

If reports over the last couple of days are to be believed, we might now start to see some movement in Spurs’ quest to find a long-term successor to Antonio Conte over the coming days and weeks.

The Evening Standard claimed on Thursday that the North London club have done their due diligence on various candidates and are now expected to hold talks with the leading contenders.

Football Insider have backed up that claim, stating that the Lilywhites are now ‘edging closer’ in their process, with Julian Nagelsmann, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany named as some of the leading contenders.

The publication adds that Kane’s future is proving to be a ‘huge part of the negotiations’ with various prospective managers.

It is said that having a plan in place to persuade the England captain to stay will be a ‘big factor’ in any potential appointment Tottenham make.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that there is pressure on Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy to appoint a big enough name to convince the likes of Kane of the club’s ambition.

However, I do not think that should be the overriding consideration when making the appointment.

Tottenham need to appoint who they think is the best man for the job. Kane’s future takes care of itself as long as the new man who comes in makes a good impression on the squad and gets the team playing good football.
