Report: Spurs ‘expect’ to sign long-term transfer target ahead of new season

Ryan Sessegnon is now inside the last twelve months of his contract at Fulham with speculation continuing circulate surrounding his future (The Sun).

Danny Rose’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur is well documented after the club made the decision to leave him at home for the pre-season tour of the Far East in order for him to potentially discuss a move away from North London (Spurs official).

Sessegnon has been viewed as a potential long term successor to Rose on the left flank (The Telegraph) but a move has failed to happen.

Fulham will have to reluctantly sell the 19-year-old this summer or risk him leaving the Championship club for free next summer.

The Telegraph report that Spurs expect to sign Sessegnon before the transfer window closes on Thursday 8th August which could still see Rose depart afterwards.

The transfer window in France, Spain and Germany will close on August 31 (talkSPORT) which will allow the likes of Rose to still leave the club if an offer is received even after the Premier League season kicks off.
