TEAMtalk have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could be quite busy during the January transfer market, with the Lilywhites said to be eyeing three new additions.
Recently, various journalists have downplayed the chances of Spurs doing a lot of business in the mid-season transfer window.
David Ornstein remarked in a Q&A on The Athletic a month ago that Tottenham do not have much money to spend in January, having spent the bulk of the Harry Kane fee in the summer prior to the striker’s move to Bayern Munich.
This was also backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who told Caughtoffside a couple of weeks ago that the North London club do not have ‘crazy money’ and are likely to look for market opportunities.
Spurs expected to be busy in the January window
However, these claims have been contradicted by TEAMtalk, who state that Spurs, along with Newcastle, could be the most active out of all Premier League clubs in next month’s transfer window.
It is explained that Tottenham were always prioritising singing a centre-back and also wanted to add another forward to their squad.
Their plans have allegedly now been updated following Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury, with the club now also expected to enter the market for a central midfielder.
The publication adds that strengthening these three areas is seen by Ange Postecoglou’s men as key to helping them maintain the momentum they have built so far.

While Spurs could potentially make three signings next month, none of those are likely to be big-money moves, with all three new faces likely to be squad players rather than readymade starters, who would strengthen our first eleven.
