The January transfer window is finally here, with the question now being: will Spurs make a new signing under Jose Mourinho?
According to a report from Marca, the answer to that question is ‘it would be strange’ if they did not. This is because Spurs can still use their special January discount for Giovani Lo Celso.
Tottenham took the attacking midfielder on loan from Real Betis back in the summer, but it has since been revealed that they can have him for a cut-price if they make the deal permanent this month.
Marca say that Spurs can have him now for €32m, or they can wait and sign him for €40m in the summer.
However, there is nothing that says Spurs can’t wait until the last day of the transfer window in January to take advantage of the clause, even if Betis would prefer an early conclusion.

This one sounds as if it is a matter of when, not if. Lo Celso has barely got going in North London yet, but Levy is never going to turn down a chance to save money.
