Report: Spurs expected to complete transfer of Real Madrid defender

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to complete a deal to sign Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon.

The BBC claim that Manchester United had held talks with Real Madrid over a possible move for the Spanish international but were put off by the insistence on a buyback clause being inserted into the deal which has now put Spurs in pole position.

The report Evening Standard claim that Reguilon would cost in the region of £25million with the clause allowing the La Liga giants to take him back to the Santiago Bernabeu if they match any future fee.

The defender impressed during his loan spell with Sevilla last season and helped the Spanish club win the Europa League.

He is said to have been frozen out by Zinedine Zidane on his return to Real Madrid, with the French coach preferring to stick with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy at left-back (Express).

Jose Mourinho has already decided against including Danny Rose in his plans for this season after leaving the left-back without a squad number (Sky Sports).
