Report: Spurs expected to make move for PL midfielder next week

The Telegraph have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a move for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Ward-Prowse has been a consistent performer for the Saints over the last decade but the midfielder has taken his game to a new level over the past couple of seasons.

The 26-year-old has four years left to run on his current contract at St Mary’s.

The Telegraph claim the England international is attracting interest from both Aston Villa and Spurs this summer.

While the Villans have been heavily linked with the midfielder over the past couple of weeks, it is explained the North Londoners have also been long-term admirers of the Southampton man.

It is revealed that both clubs are preparing offers for Ward-Prowse, with an offer expected to arrive from Spurs next week.

The report also adds that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have no intention of selling their captian and are keen to hold on to him beyond the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some Spurs fans might feel that we should be aiming higher than Ward-Prowse but I believe that the 26-year-old could be a smart acquisition for the North Londoners.

He would certainly be an upgrade over Winks and would prove to be a valuable squad player even if does not start every game.
