Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now expected to enter the race to sign Trevoh Chalobah after Chelsea decided to put the centre-back up for sale.
It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that signing a centre-back is a priority for Ange Postecoglou’s men in January, with GiveMeSport reporting on October 26 that Chalobah is one of four names on the top of the North London club’s wishlist.
The outlet claimed that Spurs view the 24-year-old as an ‘intriguing option’ since he can also step into midfield if required.
Chelsea have put Trevoh Chalobah up for sale
Football Insider have now explained that Chelsea are planning for the January transfer window, with Mauricio Pocehttino keen on bringing a goalkeeper through the door.
However, the Blues do not have much leeway when it comes to Financial Fair Play, which is why they have to offload some of their players, with the club alleged to have identified Chalobah as a sellable asset.
The report adds that Tottenham are now likely to throw their hat in the ring for the Chelsea academy graduate while Bayern Munich are also admirers of the English defender.
Spurs Web Opinion
Chalobah would tick a lot of boxes for Tottenham, given his age, homegrown status, recovery pace, and his versatility. I can see Spurs showing interest in the 24-year-old if he is available for £40m or less.
