Report: Spurs eyeing move for 23-year-old goalkeeper

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be among several European clubs eyeing up a move for 22-year-old Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir in the summer, according to Turkish news outlet Fanatik.

The 23-year-old joined the Super Lig giants from Ankaragucu in the summer of 2019 and has gone on to make 60 appearances in all competitions and has kept 16 clean sheets (transfermarkt).

Takvim claimed earlier this month that Ajax are keen on the shot stopper following Andre Onana’s twelve-month ban.

Tottenham decided to send Paulo Gazzaniga on loan to Spanish side Elche in the winter transfer window after the Argentine dropped down to third choice keeper following the arrival of Joe Hart.

It is also said that there is further interest on the continent from Schalke, Werder Bremen and Lille.

SpursWeb Opinion

Hugo Lloris’ recent run of poor form will always have media outlets looking to link Spurs with a move for a goalkeeper.

Bayindir is relatively inexperienced at the top level and is yet to be capped at senior level for Turkey. We need an experienced goalkeeper behind our defence, whether that’s Lloris or someone else.
