Report: Spurs eyeing move for 43-year-old who has left current club

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for recruitment guru Tim Steidten, who has now left his role at Bayer Leverkusen.

The report reveals that Steidten has left his role as sporting director at Bayer by mutual consent earlier this week, which has alerted a whole host of clubs across the Premier League and in Europe.

Tottenham are thought to be one of those who are interested as they wait to find out the verdict of Fabio Paratici’s appeal after the Italian was handed a 30 month as part of Juventus’s false accounting scandal.

Football Insider suggest that Spurs are not the only club eyeing Steidten, with the German also thought to be on the radars of both Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Reds are said to be searching for a new sporting director as Julian Ward is leaving Anfield at the end of the season, while United are also allegedly looking to add to their recruitment team.

The report reveals that Chelsea also tried to appoint Steidten when they were overhauling their backroom staff last season but the Blues are no longer believed to be in the market for a sporting director.

The fact that Levy has seemingly entrusted Paratici with the task of finding Conte’s successor suggests that the Spurs chairman is confident that the Italian’s ban will be overturned. However, one would expect the club to be making contingency plans just in case, which might involve reaching out to Steidten.
