Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing up a move for Dean Henderson this summer, as the goalkeeper is having doubts over a signing a new deal with Manchester United, according to a report in Manchester Evening News.
Henderson has enjoyed two impressive seasons on loan at Sheffield United during which time he has won several admirers.
MEN now reports that, while United want Henderson to eventually succeed De Gea’s between the sticks, the 23-year-old is refusing to put pen to paper on a contract extension unless he is given assurances that he will be the club’s number one next season.
Henderson, whose current deal with the Red Devils runs until 2022, is said to be unwilling to compete with De Gea for the number one spot and would rather spend next season on loan than warming the United bench.
The report asserts that Jose Mourinho has been a fan of the young goalkeeper since his time at Old Trafford and would like to bring him to Spurs.

I do not think we are likely to sign a number one this summer given our financial constraints. However, the Henderson situation is one well worth keeping an eye on. De Gea only singed a contract with United last summer and at 29 years of age, he is still fairly young for a goalkeeper. Despite the mistakes he’s made recently, he still seems to have Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s support. So, if the Spaniard continues to be number one at United, Henderson could well become available again next summer and I can see us being interested.
