Report: Spurs eyeing potential signing from Club Brugge this summer

A report from Voetbal24 has claimed that Spurs are interested in signing Club Brugge goalkeeper, Ethan Horvath this summer.

Tottenham are faced with a difficult situation between the sticks over the next 12 months. Paulo Gazzaniga was released this summer, while Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart both have just one year remaining on their respective contracts.

The report claims that Horvath is ready to make a change this summer since he has been occupying the number two slot behind former Liverpool stopper Simon Mignolet for the past two seasons at Club Brugge.

However, it is added that he would arrive in North London as cover for Hugo Lloris rather than as Tottenham’s new number one.

Horvath recently became somewhat of a hero in his native USA after he saved a penalty in the 120th minute of a CONCACAF Nations League Final to hand his side victory against Mexico.

The keeper made just four appearances last season in all competitions.

I’d much prefer to see Spurs go for the likes of Dean Henderson or Sam Johnstone this summer given their experience of playing in the English top-flight, the fact that Horvath struggles for regular football in the Belgian league is a warning that he’s not ready to make the step up to the club of Tottenham’s stature.
